BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

english 3

WHAT IS THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT?

It means to be filled entirely with the Holy Spirit. In addition to salvation, this is vital for every believer in Christ.

What does it mean to speak in tongues?

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit you will be able to speak in other tongues. By speaking in tongues, you are speaking a language you have never learnt before. You are not speaking the language of man but of God. It is not human reasoning rather the Spirit of God praying through you. Praying in tongues is like a river that flows from your spirit. A man who speaks in tongues develops and transforms himself.

What are the benefits of speaking in tongues?

Scriptures on the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues:

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

(Matthew 3:11)

If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

(Luke 11:11-13)

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Acts 2:38)

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

(Acts 10:44-46)

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

(Romans 8:14)

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

(Romans 8:26-28)

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

(1 Corinthians 14:2)

He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

(1 Corinthians 14:4)

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

(Jude 1:20)
